"To be a poor man
is hard, but to be a poor race in a land of dollars is the very bottom of
hardships." This is a quote said by the famous Pan-Africanist, W.E.B.
DuBois. William Edward Burghardt DuBois was an American civil rights leader,
Pan-Africanist, sociologist, educator, historian writer editor, poet, and scholar.
He greatly impacted the Negros of the 19th and 20th centuries because he
protested for black’s rights. During his time, discrimination was a big problem
down south, but not as much up north. Blacks were often treated poorly,
and rarely got a education, unless if they were taught by their masters-which
was illegal. W.E.B. DuBois had a very interesting background, great
achievements, and an amazing lasting legacy, which all have greatly improved
the blacks' rights.
